1.Who we are

Pool Almanac (formerly Pool Genius) is a pool and hot tub care service made by FARAN, LLC. “We” and “us” below mean FARAN, LLC, which is responsible for your data. Questions about privacy go to support@poolalmanac.com.

2.What we collect

• Account: your email address, and your name if you give it.
• Your pools and hot tubs: size, shape, surface, sanitizer, equipment and the products you use.
• Location: the area you enter for your pool, used for weather forecasts and seasonal timing.
• Water care records: tests, treatments, maintenance, notes, and questions you ask the coach.
• Photos you choose to add.
• Usage: which pages and features are used, and basic device details such as browser and operating system.
• Payments: your plan and billing status. Card details go straight to the payment processor; we never see or store your card number.

The free tools and the water check on this website run in your browser. What you type there stays on your device unless you choose “Save this pool”, which carries it into sign-up.

3.How we use it

• To compute your targets, doses and plans, and to keep your history.
• To send the reminders, alerts and emails you ask for. Each email has a one-click unsubscribe.
• To answer your questions in the coach, using your pool's own records.
• To run billing and prevent abuse, such as repeated free trials.
• To understand which features help, from counts of page views and feature use.

4.AI, on our own servers

The coach and photo diagnosis run on AI models hosted on our own servers. Your questions, pool records and photos are processed there and are not sent to outside AI companies.

The AI explains results from our chemistry engine; it does not decide doses on its own. Its answers can be wrong, so confirm with a test before you treat.

5.Photos

Photos you add are stored in our own storage, linked to your account, and used to answer your request. You can delete any photo at any time.

We use photos to improve our models only if you opt in in Settings. You can change your mind at any time; after you opt out, new photos are not used, and photos you delete are removed from future training sets.

6.Analytics and advertising

Page and feature analytics are counted by software we run ourselves. There are no third-party trackers or advertising scripts on this website.

If you arrive from one of our ads and then sign up or subscribe, we may tell that ad platform that a sign-up or purchase happened, so we can measure the ad. We never send your pool data, and we ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

7.Who else handles your data

The app, database, file storage and AI run on our own servers. A few services we can't run ourselves process limited data on our behalf:

• Stripe processes web payments. Apple and Google process purchases made in their app stores.
• Resend delivers our emails (your email address and the message).
• Open-Meteo provides weather forecasts (the location of your pool, not your name or email).
• Cloudflare carries traffic to our servers and protects them from attacks.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for anyone else's advertising.

8.Export, correct or delete

• Export: download everything as CSV from Account, free, on every plan.
• Correct: edit your pools, records and settings at any time.
• Delete: delete single records, photos, or your whole account from Account. Deleting your account removes your data from our live systems; copies in backups expire as the backups are replaced.
• Ask us: for a copy of your data, or anything above, write to support@poolalmanac.com. We answer within the time your local law sets.

9.How long we keep it

For as long as your account is open, so your history is there when you need it. If you stop paying, your data stays on the free plan. When you delete your account, we delete your data, except records we must keep by law, such as payment records.

10.Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited to the people who run the service, and each account can only reach its own records. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you.

11.Children

Pool Almanac is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

12.Changes

If we change how we use your data in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the last change. See also the terms and the subscription terms.
